Christmas Blessings

We were able to bless a few families in the last two days, just in time for Christmas!  And got blessed ourselves with a chicken.
Jean Claude and Pelagie with five of their seven children. They are doing great!
Grandma Geraldine and her two granddaughters. Happy smiles here too.
Theophile and Erevaniya and their children. All doing well.
Alphonsine with gifts for her and her mom.
And later this evening Theogen our guard will be blessed. We want him to help with our gift of a chicken from a church group.
(It not the woman's place to do the dirty work, just the cooking.)

Blessings for everyone!
God has been good to us and we have seen Him work in the lives here.
Merry Christmas every one!
May you see blessings from Him too.

All In A Days Work

Wow, so it's been some time since I posted, well okay not that long, just over a month.  We took some time off in November, and went to a few places in Rwanda and enjoyed the leisure time. Saw some new places, read a book, hiked a trail, saw some monkeys, and met some neat people.

Came back and checked on the process of windows going into the rooms at the school. Nice to see them and know that the lighting will be better for the students and the air circulation too! Then we had to get all the furniture and whatnot put back into the rooms.

We started up with Production on December 5th and have 4 graduates coming. They will be making more items for sale here in Rwanda and in other parts of the world, if we can get it going! Obviously we have big plans.

One of the rooms is a "Store"! We already have some items come in to sell that one of the production ladies has made, and wants us to help sell them for her. We do have a place in Kigali and a possible place in Nyagatare, plus here at our "Store".
How's that for an african apron?

Rooster Graduation

 October 29, 2016

I was sitting crocheting an angel, for the manger scene I wanted this year, under the Christmas tree, and realized that I should be writing a prayer letter to our supporters.

So, here I am writing to you. First, Thank you so much for the support that you gave this year. It goes to say, that we wouldn’t be here doing ministry, if it wasn’t for your contributions, Thanks!

The family reunion in August was a real treat to attend. We got to see more relatives than we normally would have. Also, thanks for the funds for finishing the fence and underground water tank. The fence looks great, and we hope that the tank will soon fill with the rains. We have a great supportive family, Thanks to all of you! One relative bought all the “surplus bags & etc.” that we were not able to sell, that was a great blessing to us, and a help to the production ministry here. Upon returning, we have learned that one of the production gals has sewn a number of bags, and has them for sale in a local shop, here in our village Ryabega - very exciting to see her using the skill and machine she received! We hope to hear more of this happening.

We have noticed an increase into the lives of the local children, since our trip to Canada, more of you have come along side us, to help them get an education. This makes our lives a bit busier, but also more fulfilled, as we see the changes it makes, in not only the child, but the whole family, as they learn more - they can get jobs to support their families.

We were very happy to get a report upon returning from Canada, from our landlord of the building we rent for the sewing school. “You have a great man there in Theophile (our tailor), he is more dependable than the workers I have. Make sure you treat him well!” We are very blessed to have Theo, and God has seen fit to bless him. The couple that support Theo’s children, also wanted to help with Theo’s house. Since returning, we have been able to see that he has a good solid roof over his home, and have made the house much more livable. The house still needs some more windows, it has only three, but that will come I’m sure. Theo is very thankful to those who helped in making this happen, in return we (Peter & I), were given a rooster for eating, from Theo. So we have a chicken in the yard, he’s lonely and unsure of what is happening to him, as he seems to be hiding during the day. What can I say, he just missed Thanksgiving, and Christmas is coming - will try to fatten him up but that’s really hard to do in this warm country! We will be thinking of those supporters as we enjoy our meal! The unexpected blessings of ministry!

We have been blessed with funds for the ministry work too. We had Graduation October 28, 2016 for the sixth group of students, 19 Grads this year. This is amazing when we think about it, that we have been here that long.  We are especially grateful to Theo and Eppy for the amazing work they did in our absence, as we look at the skill of sewing that the students are doing. We are going to continue with running the school, for the 9 to 10 months each year, that the children are in school, so that the school breaks coincide with the country’s school system.  This benefits the moms that want to attend, and the ones that we want to reach.

On another note, we would like you to know, that through circumstances, we have lost some of our personal support, one fifth actually. We are needing to raise $500.00 to $600.00 per month. We have truly been blessed with what we have, but realize too, that this is reality and we need more. Please pray with us that God will supply this need.

There are plans to continue letting Theo run the sewing school and I to get some production going soon for more of those that want to earn a sewing machine. Peter enjoys working with the church he got to name - “God’s Garden Church”, and with helping everywhere he can, like putting sewing machines together. I have seen my doctor after two months of no medication, and the blood tests revealed that I still need to be on a small dose of steroids for the Polymyagia Rheumatica.

God is continuing to take care of us, keeping us healthy and safe, and for that we are truly grateful!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Bananas

Our first fruits from the banana plant.
The workers on the fence were laughing heartily too.
Six or seven families will benefit. Makes a heart joyful to have enough to give.
Murakose cane ( thank you very much) Heavenly Father!

House and Yard

Welcome to our home.
Oh look, 23C/75F, and 50% humidity.
It's almost been a year since we moved in. (But 5 months of that we were in Canada.) It's starting to feel like home.
We truly are blessed!
