March 31, 2011

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5,6

In our last letter we mentioned a change that was about to happen in our lives. We will be finished working with NCEM on the 31st of March. We served twenty-three years with NCEM, and have enjoyed it. We mentioned also that we were applying to YWAM (Youth With A Mission). We were accepted with YWAM last month and will be taking DTS (Discipleship Training School) in Kigali, Rwanda, Africa. We will leave for Rwanda around the middle of June. The training is 6 months long - 3 months of classes and three months in field ministry. We are excited about what God will do in and through us in Rwanda. The transition from NCEM to YWAM is going very smoothly. NCEM sent out a letter to our financial supporters, informing them of changes. Below is the information needed for those of you who would like to support us during our time in Rwanda. We are recommended to raise about $2650.00 per month.

YWAM mentioned in an email to us:

If you are planning to fly out June 15th, we can start sending you money the month before that, so your donors can begin sending you money as of the end of April.
We can receive donations in the following ways:
1. Cheque/money order - Made payable to 'Youth With a Mission' with a separate note attached saying "This is for ...... serving in ....." We cannot accept cheques payable to a missionary or ministry. We can accept US or CAD cheques or money orders, but only a CAD tax receipt will be issued. These are receipted monthly, in the following month, unless the donor requests an annual receipt.
2. Post dated cheque - donors can send in post dated cheques, so that there is a cheque ready and waiting to be sent out every month. We have a secure safe we store them in, until they are ready to be used. Again, they must be payable to 'Youth With A Mission' with a separate note attached designating them to the missionary. We can accept US or CAD cheques or money orders, but only a CAD tax receipt will be issued. You can be receipted annually or monthly.
3. Pre-authorized monthly payment - Donors fill in a form (contact Peter or Diane - info at end of this letter) and return it to us, with a signature and a void cheque. This option is available only to donors with a CANADIAN bank account. You will be receipted annually at the end of the current tax year.
4. Credit card donation - online through our third party website, CANADA HELPS. (Please get a form from Peter or Diane) Unless it is absolutely necessary we discourage donors from using Canada Helps, as they charge an extra transaction fee, on top of our administration fee, and so the missionary ends up with less money overall. Your tax receipt in this case will be provided by Canada Helps by email at the time of the donation, unless you establish an account and a monthly credit payment. Receipts are for Canadian tax purposes only.
Receipts are payable to the name on the cheque sent. Business cheques will be receipted to the business, not to an individual, and the same with personal cheques, these donations can only be receipted to the name on the cheque. In the case of group or cash donations where many individuals have donated together, we cannot divide receipts over one cheque written on behalf of the group. Please send in a money order, payable to YWAM and attach a separated note with the name, address, phone, email and about given by each donor so they can be properly receipted. Please do not send cash in the mail, always get a money order.
Our office address for mailed gifts is
Project Funding Office, PO Box 57100, Vancouver, BC, V5K1Z0
our phone is:  604.436.4433
our fax is:  604.436.4466
our email is:  donorservices@shaw.ca

We hope the above is helpful to you, please contact if you have any questions (contact information is below).

Because of the mail system in Rwanda, we will need to communicate with you via email. So if you could send us your current email address so that we can update our list we would be so happy to continue our communication with you in that way. If we do not get your email address you may not hear from us. [ :- (   = sad face]   Those of you who do not have an email address, please write us and let us know and we will figure out a way to get our prayer letters to you. We really want your prayer support and we know a few of you who do not have computer access.

Prayer Requests - Please pray with us as we prepare to go:
- For the sale of our home here in Prince Albert and all of the paper work in relation to that transaction.
- For the sale of our car and truck.
- Pray that we will find the right insurance company for international insurance coverage.
We need to find reasonably priced flight out of Saskatoon.
Praise God with us, for the way He is working 'things' out!

Serving Him,

Second Last Day At Tribal Trails

We had Bert and Liz Genaille here, and we did some taping in the studio. I ran one of the cameras, because they needed another camera man, and I was done my last program. I was going to load some pictures but I guess I've used up all my space!
Tomorrow will be my last day!

Mailing

Mailing time again! We are sending out our last, BIG, snail-mail, prayer support letter. Likely from here on, we will do mostly emailings. Of course we have some wonderful supporters that don't have internet access that we will still mail to, but that will have to be decided at our next mailing.
You will have to ask Peter why he's so happy!

I Got A Deal

I've been wanting a cover for my iPod Touch. It is not necessary, but the slippery thing has fallen a couple of times. So yesterday we had to vacate the house for a showing and we went up to Future Shop just to see what kind of price the covers were running at. We were pointed in the right direction and shown where they were. (I only know where things are in Value Village). Looking around we saw that most were priced at $24.00 and up, but there were ones there that were $9.99 and it include more than the single prices items. Like it had an arm band, and a soft cover and a hard protective cover in this box. So we took it over to the guy that had helped us and we asked if this was for an iPod. And "Yes",  "Then why is it at this price?" He goes back with us and says "Well, it is $44.99, and is on sale for $37.99, but it is in the wrong spot, but I will have to honor it and give it to you for $9.99." And while he is saying all this, he is moving the other 3 on the $9.99 post over to the post that is marked $44.99. So I take a big swallow and say, "Well, I guess I'll buy that one then!" He did have to check with his supervisor on the phone to let him know that he was doing that and took me over to the checkout and I paid $10.99 cash! WAHOO!!!! And that is how I got my iPod Touch soft cover, hard cover and arm band!

What's Happening?

Well, I'll tell you!
This week is the last week for us in working with NCEM.
We have been with them for 23 years and after this week we will be done.
It is sad to leave co-workers you have been with for 23 years.
A person sure makes a lot of memories in 23 years, from the moment of our first training up till now! Memories that will last forever.
We have lived in two different mission fields, Watson Lake, YT and Prince Albert, SK.
Two different places and two different work experiences.
Both are dear to our hearts, and we have fond memories of both places.
I wouldn't have missed any of the experiences in either place.
And I am very glad for the friends we have made.

The next two months or so, are going to be a bit tough (I think).
We have a house to sell, and stuff to sort through (we've started already).
What to sell, what to keep, and what to give away!
Some things will be going to our children.
Some things just have to be sold.
And Peter built a shed that will store what we want to keep.
We have wonderful friends that are willing to keep that shed on their place!

We have already been accepted with YWAM.
I am very Thankful to the Lord, for the way the transition from NCEM to YWAM has gone.
We also now, have to get stuff together, that is necessary to take with us.
Some time in June, we will be going to Kigali, Rwanda, Africa!
On to making more memories!
Memories I can only imagine yet.

Walks

We try to go for a walk at noon - Mon. to Thurs. This was yesterday. Even though spring is here there is still lots of snow and cold weather. Heard it is to be a slow thaw so we will have the snow for a bit longer!

Spring!

Spring, spring, spring!
Aren't you so glad Spring has come and the weather warms up and the snow begins to melt?

Okay, so the snow's a little bit dirty!
Can hardly wait for the tulips to push through the snow!

Ladies Meet!

Ladies Time Out
We had a chance to crochet a necklace with 'ladder' yarn!

Measure 8 ft. of yarn - 3 to 7 lengths.

Tie a knot 12 inches from end.

Crochet chain stitch on each length.

Some had never done this.

Crochet for about 16 or 17 inches.

Oops, called Elsie Lydia! Sorry Elsie!

I also shared about our going to Africa!

Denise learned to crochet and completed a necklace!!!!

Ash Wednesday/Lent Begins

I have been waiting and waiting for Lent to come. I've decided this year that I'm going to abstain (restrain oneself from doing something) from Facebook. Now I know that my posts on my blog go to Facebook, so some of you will read this and be wondering but that's how it is set up. Unless of course, you follow my blog. Well, I'm excited to be free from 'snooping' into my friends lives for a time, and just take time for other things that need to get done! Who knows what these days will consist of, although my husband deemed it necessary to take me away from my work at NCEM for today and tomorrow - just so we could spend time cleaning out the extra clutter in our home and get it ready for sale. Today went well in my eyes. We got the bedroom pretty much clutter free!!! Tomorrow is another day, and another room.
Enjoy Lent and remember what Jesus Christ did for you!!

Packing Up The House!

I AM NOT A HOARDER!
(In the sense that you see 'hoarders' on TV anyway!)
But packing this house up, that we've lived in for the past 13 years (& 2.5 months), makes me wonder! There is just so much stuff, and our children have pretty well taken all of their stuff with them.
Well I've got work to do this weekend!
